Established on a small scale by then Army-civilians in 1939 during the British rule, the Unit Line School has undergone more than eight decades of administrative and academic expansion under various names. The combined teaching program of Madrasi, Urdu, Bengali and English languages was prevalent in this school. Along with that, this school is ruled by different ethnic groups of the subcontinent. First of all: The journey started with a few students like Maktab and gradually progressed to primary, secondary, higher secondary and graduation levels and today the traditional Shaheed Bir Bikram Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College is full of 3000 students.
In 1952, during the tumultuous years of the language movement, the school was taken over by the military with the acquisition of land by the Cantonment. After that, the great responsibility of school infrastructure development and education expansion was entrusted to the Military Land Directorate and the Cantonment Board. Today’s Shaheed Bir Vikram Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College stands as a rare witness of a total of 83 years of rich history and tradition of the three regimes of British, Pakistan and Independence North Bangladesh.
